Good dome label results start with a good design. Here are the practical considerations to keep in mind when preparing your artwork.
📌 File Format
Vector files (AI, CDR, EPS, vector PDF) are strongly preferred. The dome cutting outline must be a vector path. High-resolution raster images (300 dpi minimum) are accepted for the printed graphic but cannot drive the cutting path.
📌 Minimum and Maximum Sizes
Minimum diameter is around 8 mm — below this the dome cannot form properly. Maximum dimension is around 200 × 200 mm; larger requires multi-dome layouts.
📌 Dome Height
Standard dome height is 0.8–1.6 mm depending on label area. Taller domes are possible but require multi-pour processing and increase cost.
📌 Colour and Pantone
The PU resin is essentially clear. Print colour appears slightly more saturated under the dome due to magnification. We recommend Pantone matching for brand-critical colours; gradients and photographic detail reproduce faithfully.
📌 Contour Shape
Round, oval, rectangular, freeform — the dome can be cut to any vector outline. Sharp internal corners (less than 90°) should be avoided as the dome cannot resolve sharp inside angles cleanly.
📌 Backing and Mounting
Default is 3M acrylic adhesive. For helmets and sports equipment we offer flexible foam adhesive that conforms to curves. Send your application details and we recommend the optimal backing.
