How Is Lexan Label Pricing Determined? Cost Factors

Lexan label pricing depends on a handful of well-defined factors. Understanding them helps you specify cost-effectively and avoid surprises at quote time.

📌 1. Material Thickness

Standard PC thicknesses are 0.125, 0.175, 0.25, 0.375 and 0.5 mm. Thicker film costs more per unit area but is required for rigid applications and embossed domes. For pure overlays without tactile features, 0.175–0.25 mm is the sweet spot.

📌 2. Print Method

Screen printing is most economical for high-volume runs (1000+ pieces) with 1–4 spot colours. UV digital is preferred for low-volume runs (10–500 pieces) with photographic gradients or many colours. Pantone-matched solid colours generally print fastest by screen.

📌 3. Run Length

UV digital production has flat per-piece cost — no plates, no setup. Screen printing has per-colour plate setup that amortises across the run, so high volumes drop the per-piece cost significantly.

📌 4. Finishing and Cutting

Plain rectangles cut by guillotine are cheapest. CO2 laser cutting follows any vector outline at ±0.1 mm precision. CNC routing is available for thicker materials. Embossed tactile domes require additional tooling and process steps.

📌 5. Adhesive and Lamination

3M 467MP / 468MP industrial adhesive is the standard. Foam-backed double-sided is available for textured surfaces. Anti-graffiti and matte laminates add cost but improve outdoor service.
