Metal label pricing depends on five factors. Understanding them helps you specify cost-effectively.
📌 1. Base Material
Aluminum is the most economical metal substrate. Stainless 304 costs roughly 1.5× aluminum; stainless 316 about 2× aluminum; brass 2.5–3× aluminum. Material choice is dictated by environment.
📌 2. Thickness
Thicker plates use more material and incur more processing time. 0.5 mm is most economical; 1.5 mm is twice the cost. Specify the minimum thickness suitable for the application.
📌 3. Marking Process
Anodising and screen printing are most economical for medium-volume production. Chemical etching is intermediate cost. Fiber laser engraving has near-zero per-piece cost but limited area coverage. Variable data marking adds time per unit.
📌 4. Finishing
Standard brushed or matte finish is included. Mirror polish, black anodised, gold anodised or two-tone finishes add cost. Special edge treatments (bevelled, rounded corners) require extra work.
📌 5. Quantity
Setup costs amortise across the run. Below 25 pieces, per-piece cost is high. The sweet spot is 100–1000 pieces.
