Every machine sold in the EEA needs a type plate (German "Typenschild") identifying the manufacturer, machine and key technical data. Compliance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC is mandatory.
📌 Required Data
- Manufacturer name and full address
- Machine designation, model and serial number
- Year of construction
- CE mark (with notified body number where applicable)
- Mass (where 10 kg or more)
- Voltage, frequency, current
- Special hazard pictograms
📌 Permanence Requirement
The plate must be legible and durable for the expected machine lifetime. In practice this means anodised aluminum or etched stainless — never adhesive vinyl on bare metal.
📌 Position
The type plate should be visible without disassembly, typically near the main electrical entry. For machines with multiple sub-assemblies, each major sub-assembly may have its own plate.
📌 Mounting
Rivet, weld or industrial 3M adhesive on a flat clean surface. Tamper-resistant threaded studs are used where regulatory traceability is critical.
📌 Variable Data Production
For per-unit serialisation we import a CSV — every plate carries its unique serial number, voltage and configuration. Fully audit-traceable for OEM quality systems.
