Metal Label — Aluminum Nameplate and Type Plate Production Guide
A metal label (also called nameplate, type plate or data plate) is a permanent identification plate manufactured from aluminum, stainless steel or brass. It carries serial numbers, model designations, regulatory marks and brand identity — typically attached with adhesive, rivets or threaded studs. Bora Ajans has been producing metal labels at Dudullu OSB Istanbul since 1983.
Anodised Aluminum vs Etched Stainless 316
Anodised aluminum is lightweight, cost-effective and excellent for indoor and outdoor machinery up to ~150 °C. The anodised surface is harder than the underlying metal and resists abrasion well. For premium applications, gold or black anodised finishes are available.
Etched stainless 316 is preferred for chemical, marine and high-temperature applications above 200 °C. The deep etching is filled with paint or pigment for high contrast. Suitable for autoclave-sterilised medical equipment.
Brass is selected for premium architectural signage and luxury branding. Brass is heavier, costlier and requires periodic polishing in outdoor exposure.
Variable Data and Traceability
Bora Ajans imports CSV data sets to produce per-unit serial numbers, QR codes, Data Matrix, barcodes and lot codes — fully audit-traceable. Fiber-laser engraving and chemical etching produce marks that survive oils, solvents and abrasion for the equipment lifetime.
Compliance and Certification
We routinely produce CE type plates, UL nameplates and MIL-spec data plates to customer drawings, with full documentation. Required content typically includes manufacturer name and address, machine designation, model and serial number, year of construction, CE mark, mass (where 10 kg or more), voltage, frequency and current, and special hazard pictograms.
International Terminology
A metal label is also known as nameplate, type plate, data plate, Typenschild (German), plaque signalétique (French). Bora Ajans exports under DDU conditions to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France using these international terms.
